I’m thrilled to welcome the Top Up Community Grants initiative. This fantastic programme is designed to support and empower communities by providing much-needed funding for various projects and initiatives.
Good mental health doesn’t happen by accident – it comes from the small, purposeful actions we take every day to recharge, connect and look after ourselves and the people around us.
We know local communities understand their own needs best. What works in Westport might not work in Mangawhai – and that’s why the Government has partnered with the Mental Health Foundation to create the Top Up Community Grants scheme.
These grants are available to run events, activities and projects that bring the Top Up message to life. Each initiative is grounded in the Five Ways to Wellbeing – Connect, Give, Take Notice, Be Active, and Keep Learning – helping to strengthen wellbeing across Aotearoa.
Key details:
- Funding available: $10,000-$40,000 per project
- Total funding pool: $250,000 per year for two years
- Applications open: 7 October to 16 November
Projects must start in February next year and be completed by September 30.
I encourage you to apply for a Top Up Grant and to share this opportunity with others in your community who are helping make a difference.
